Murrumbidgee Field Naturalists  

MFN are a group of like minded people who share a belief that the biodiversity of the Mid Murrumbidgee Valley is worth knowing about and preserving.  MFN have regular field trips to places of interest, we have specific preservation and conservation projects and we keep records of our endeavours. 

ECCO (Environmentally Concerned Citizens of Orange)

ECCO was launched in April 2006 in response to widespread community concern over the environment, and at a time when the city of Orange was experiencing significant residential expansion and commercial development. ECCO has subsequently embarked on a broad program of environmental education, awareness and activism in the Orange community, with an increasing emphasis on climate action initiatives through its sub-group, Orange Climate Action Now (OCAN).

The OFNCS is a society for anybody interested in natural history, preservation of the environment and conservation. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each monthand fieldtrips the Sunday following the meetingMembers of the Society have a wide range of interests and include professional scientists, amateur naturalists, students, children with interests in animals, environmental activists and other people who are interested in, and care about, the natural world around them.

Greening Bathurst

Greening Bathurst is a volunteer community organisation that supports best practice in the management and conservation of vegetation across the  Bathurst Regional Council area by advancing the implementation of the Bathurst Vegetation Management Plan (BVMP) and assisting in achieving the vision of the Plan.

Dubbo Macquarie River Bushcare Inc.

An organisation undertaking works to restore the riparian and riverine environment of Dubbo and surrounds.

Burrendong Arboretum - Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum was established in 1964 and covers approximately 167 ha. It is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of Australia's unique and incredibly diverse flora. There's more to Burrendong Botanic Garden and Arboretum than just plants on show!  

Little River Landcare - The Little River Landcare Group Inc. is situated in the Little River catchment of the Macquarie River valley in Central Western NSW. The Little River drains 258,000ha from over 300 farms and centres on the small townships of Yeoval and Cumnock. The group has many accomplishments including the Catchment Management Plan now being implemented and they feel they can optimise the many opportunities presented by the improving attitudes to natural resource management in our region.

BirdLife Australia - Birdlife Australia (formerly BOCA and Birds Austalia) is the primary national bird conservation organisations. Birdlife Australia is dedicated to the understanding, conservation and enjoyment of Australia’s wild native birds and their habitats.

NSW Bird Atlassers: The NSW Bird Atlassers (NSWBA) is an independent, volunteer-based, non-profit group with the joint aims of monitoring the distribution of birds in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, preserving habitats, providing a proper basis for environmental impact studies and for other ornithological reference purposes.

Nature Conservation Council of NSW -  The Nature Conservation Council is an umbrella body for non-government natural environment bodies.

Tamworth Birdwatchers Club - A group of birdwatchers based out of Tamworth. 

Australian Conservation Foundation -  The Australian Conservation Foundation is dedicated to the environment. For more than 30 years the ACF has voiced the desire of Australians to look after our natural heritage

The Wilderness Society -  The Wilderness Society is a national community-based environmental advocacy organisation whose mission is to protect, promote and secure the future of wilderness and high conservation areas.

Birds in Backyards - Birds in Backyards is a research, education and conservation program focusing on the birds that live where people live. Australian Native Plants Society - The Society for Growing Australian Plants encourages the growing and use of Australian native plants in home gardens and public places.

WIRES - NSW Wildlife Information Rescue Service is an independent non-profit organisation operating under licence from NSW DECCW to rescue and rehabilitate injured native animals

National Parks Association of NSW - The National Parks Association is one of NSW’s oldest and largest conservation groups, and has long been active in the campaign to protect NSW forests.

Australian Herpetological Society of NSW - information about frogs and reptiles.

LandcareNSW - the umbrella organisation for Landcare groups within NSW.

Australian Network for Plant Conservation - The Australian Network for Plant Conservation is actively working to save Australia’s plants in the wild.

GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS

Dubbo Regional Council - Dubbo Regional Council provides services to ensure a clean, safe and healthy living environment for both residents and visitors. Council aims to protect, preserve and enhance the natural and built environments of the City. Council and the community need to work together to ensure our environment is sustainable for future generations.

Local Land Services (Central West) The Central West region of the NSW Local Land Services deals with some issues of Natural Resources Management in addition to their other roles in Biosecurity, Crown Land Land Management and Agiricultural industry Support.  

NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water - DCCEEW's responsibilities include is the conservation of biodiversity and Aboriginal heritage. It's responsibilities includes national parks management, threatened species conservation and environmental water management.

NSW Department of Primary Industries (Forests and Fisheries) - NSW DPI manages the State Forests and timber plantations and timber industry.  They also are involved in aquatic habitats and species, mining, energy and agriculture

Wambangalang Environmental Education Centre, Dubbo - Wambangalang is located south of Dubbo on the Obely Road and provides excellent educational opportunities for schools and the community. 

Australian Museum Online - The museum aims to increase understanding of and influence public debate on, the natural environment, human societies and human interaction with the environment.
